I was trying to find Audrey Hepburns diet and exercise regime. I couldn’t really come up with much. I did find out that as a child she suffered from malnutrition because of the war which effected her weight for life. At one stage her diet consisted only of flour made from tulips. She was a ballet dancer which is how she exercised. I found this beautiful poem which is famously known as ‘Audrey Hepburns Beauty Tips’.

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his or her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge you’ll never walk alone.
People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Never throw out anybody.
Remember, If you ever need a helping hand, you’ll find one at the end of your arm.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself, the other for helping others.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows, and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!

Contrary to what some may think, Audrey Hepburn did not write this beautiful poem, Sam Levenson did. Levenson wrote "Time Tested Beauty Tips" for his grandchild, and it just so happened to be one of Audrey’s favorite poems. She read it to her children on the very last Christmas Eve she spent with us here on Earth.

MARILYN MONROE

One of the most well known celebrities of the past is Marilyn Monroe. I love her! She was a timeless beauty. Here is what Marilyn Monroe said when asked about her diet.

“There’s grated carrot, raw eggs and milk. That’s the diet I’m on.”

Apparently Marilyn hated restaurants and didn’t care for delicacies. The only thing she loved was orange juice which she would drink all the time.

She achieved a high level of flexibility by doing intensive training. She would copy the movements of pantomime actors and dance around in six inch stiletto shoes.

Anytime somebody asked about her flexibility she would always answer with “I learned to walk as a baby and I haven’t had a lesson since.”

The next quote I found doesn’t have much to do with celebrity diets or weight loss but I think it’s really true. “It seems that beauty and femininity are ageless… you can’t be truly attractive if you’re synthetic. The power of attraction is always underlined with femininity.”

edie.bmpI thought it would be fun to feature some celebrities from different eras on the site. Seeing as I just watched Factory Girl which was about the late Edie Sedgwick (the first ‘It Girl’) I thought maybe people were interseted in how she was so thin. I have been digging around and this is what I discovered about her.

Edie Sedgwick was a waif, she was incredibly thin and at one stage suffered from anorexia. She didn’t eat much as she was a heavy drug user. Her diet consisted of mainly alcohol, cocaine, uppers and downers or a deadly cocktail of them all (she ultimately died of an overdose).

Towards the end of her life she was so thin from all the drugs that she had to lie down to receive her heroine injection. If you stumbled across this page after looking up Edie Sedgwick’s diet and exercise regime then I’m sorry she didn’t have one. She never exercised.

For a healthy diet and exercise regime I recommend Lauren Conrad’s 1500 Calorie Day Diet. It’s been typed up in a printable chart for you!

Ladies don’t aspire to be as thin as Edie Sedgwick, she was a very ill girl. Check back in for more flashback files in the future (Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Judgy Garland etc)
