Turned 25 and Moving to London!

So just a quick life update post! Things have been a bit quieter around here lately because I’ve been moving house and preparing to go travelling overseas.

I have decided to move to London and was approved for a working visa (YAY!). I will be back to posting regularly again now as all of the hard stuff is over. Moving house is terrible, I can’t believe how much junk I accumulated.

Last week it was my 25th birthday, crazy that I’ve been blogging on this site since I was 19!

My birthday was great, just went to a gorgeous french restaurant in Currumbin (on the Gold Coast) called Allure with my boyfriend and did a family lunch yesterday. [pics inside]

Mel’s Journal: Sydney Weekend

My little sister has recently moved to Sydney and was feeling a little homesick , I decided it would be a perfect opportunity to use some frequent flyer points for a visit!

It was such a fun weekend, I’m amazed at how many activities can fit into one day! We had breakfast at Bondi, went snorkelling at Clovelly beach, subway for lunch, bought Ukuleles at a music store, learnt chords in the afternoon, saw ‘Safe Haven’ at the movies and went to the supermarket to get dinner.

We discussed our goals for the year, plans for the future and did a grocery run to stock up her cupboards/fridge with healthy snacks.

Overall, a fun and positive trip! Here are some photos :)

Melissa’s Groceries

I haven’t done a grocery shopping update in a while! I have been asked to do this quite a bit recently so here it is…a peek inside my fridge and pantry.

Tea and hot chocolate

Macro organic hot chocolate, Tetley Pick Me Up Tea in Forest Fruit (haven’t tried yet), Dilmah Green Tea with Lemongrass & Honey (haven’t tried yet), Nerada Organic Chai (so good! I have it with a tiny bit of organic soy and 1 stevia).

 

Inside fridge

The fridge is overdue for a clean out.
Top shelf: Peanut satay marinade, Moroccan marinade (I use these for marinating tofu), organic firm tofu, chicken breast (not mine!), strawberries
Second shelf: strawberry jam, soda water, broccoli, some kind of soft butter (boyfriend bought this, I would prefer real butter)
Third shelf: 2 butternut pumpkin halves, celery, spinach, organic heinz ketchup
Fourth shelf: 3 more packets of spinach
Drawer 1: Old cauliflower and beetroot + one carrot – these all need to go in the bin. Waiting until bin day!

Inside Freezer

Vegetarian burgers, 3 tubs of ice cream. 1 is a mocha flavour that I accidentally bought thinking it was chocolate. It was in the wrong section. Not very nice so I’m never tempted to eat it. The other tubs of ice cream are vanilla and just used to hide pet medicine in.
Other items on different shelves in freezer include: frozen egg whites, frozen raspberries, frozen strawberries

Separated the bananas and avocados in hopes that they ripen each other faster!

Window garden!

Woolworths were selling some plants for around $1 each as they were dying. My partner bought two tomato plants, one basil and one coriander. They are huge now and ready to go into the garden!

My favourite recent purchase – lemongrass essential oil. Reminds me of my trip to Thailand, smells so fresh and beautiful!
