Free Dr Siegal Cookie Diet Recipes!

You know that crazy celebrity cookie diet? I was thinking about it today and wondered if anybody had posted the cookie recipe on the internet (as you can imagine it’s a very safely guarded secret). Anyway.. I did manage to find these two recipes that have the same nutritional stats as the Dr Siegal cookies!

I think the diet is a bit of a fad but if the cookies are acceptable on the diet then they cant be too unhealthy right?

It might be a good idea to make them for christmas parties or for christmas day! I don’t know about you but for me Christmas is definitely the most fattening time of the year!

Recipe 1

1 cup oat dry and uncooked bran
3/4 cup orange juice
1 cup + 1 T applesauce, unsweetened
2 T canola oil
1 cup honey
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3 lg eggs
1½ T vanilla extract
1 T grated orange rind or 2 tsp
orange extract
3 cups whole-wheat pastry flour*
1 T baking powder
1½ tsp baking soda
1 cup nonfat dry milk
2½ cups oats (quick-cooking or old-fashioned)
1 cup nuts
1 cup raisins
1 cup ground fl ax seed (opt)

Method: Mix the first two ingredients together in a bowl and soak them together for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile combine applesauce, honey, oil, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and orange rind in a large bowl, and mix together using an electric mixer until the contents are smooth.
Measure out the flour, baking powder, and baking soda through a sifter and sift over the applesauce mixture.
Add the soaked oat bran and remaining ingredients to the large bowl and mix with a spoon. Form the cookies by scooping out heaping tablespoons onto your baking surface about an inch apart.
Stagger trays 1 to the left and 1 to the right, to allow air circulation around each outer edge.
Bake until lightly browned — about 12 to 14 minutes.

Recipe 2

2 1/4 cups chex multi-bran cereal
1 cup rolled oat
3/4 cup non-fat powdered milk
1/4 cup unprocessed wheat bran
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 large ripe banana, mashed
4 tablespoons salted butter, room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
2 large eggs
7 large egg whites
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Preheat oven to 375°.

Method: Combine first eight ingredients in large bowl. Mix well with spoon.
Blend banana, butter, sugar, eggs, egg whites, and vanilla at medium speed with an electric mixer until well incorporated.
Add wet ingredients to dry, mix well and allow to stand for 5 minutes.
Divide in half, then half again.
Each portion makes 6 cookies.
Bake for 12 minutes on cookie sheet or parchment paper.
Cookies spread very little during baking. Allow to cool slightly and transfer to wire rack.

“What the eff is the Celebrity Cookie Diet?”

Correct me if I’m wrong…but I’m pretty sure you eat 6-9 specially formulated cookies per day plus one meal. It was created by Dr. Siegal and has a huge celebrity following.

“It’s faster to eat a cookie than to name all the celebrities who follow the celebrity cookie diet, such as Mandy Moore, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, Jennie Garth, Shannen Doherty, Guy Ritchie, Howard Stern, Ashlee and Jessica Simpson,Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Denise Richards, and Brooke and Hulk Kogan”

Losing weight while eating 9 cookies a day sound like something you would be interested in?

My friend actually tried this diet!
I tasted one of the biscuits but couldn’t really finish a whole one as they are SO fulling!!! And I was only peckish (is that not a word?) lol

They do however taste like soil with chocolate chips. Even though the recipe is top secret, he has to, by law, list all the ingredients on the box. I have never seen so many foreign words before! Seems like a very complicated mixture of proteins that work to keep you full.

The recipes you found, Mel, look delicious though!

Anyway, my friend lost 10kgs on the diet… but I don’t think it’s for everyone (i would be very unhappy eating soil biscuits) ;-)

I would like to try this but I’d feel like was cheating the whole time !
Does it really work and is it just a fad where the
Weight goes straight back on? X

Hi Billie, yes it is a fad diet. You can’t live of cookies forever!

Are there any nutritional breakdowns for these recipes? Are they both part of the eat 9 cookies per day, or of the 6 cookies per day. What are the total calories for the appropriate number of cookies, so I know how many I have available for my one meal?

    Thanks.
