Kourtney Kardashian’s Shape Cover & Interview

Kourtney Kardashian graces the cover of the current Shape Magazine. She gives a detailed interview about her diet and exercise regime! Of course she mentions QuickTrim shakes – anyone tried them? I know she’s been paid to promote them but I’m wondering if they’re any different to regular protein or meal replacement shakes.

The phone rings at exactly 11 a.m., New York time: “Hi, it’s Kourtney!” The eldest sister in the Kardashian family is calling from her home in Los Angeles, where, at 8 a.m., the sun has barely peeked over the Hollywood Hills. “Oh, this isn’t early for me,” says the 32-year-old. “This is normal.” Her son, Mason, has been getting her up at the crack of dawn since he was born 18 months ago, but the new mom isn’t complaining. In fact, she’s never been happier…or healthier. Now that Mason’s stopped nursing, she’s been able to get her exercise routine back on track (check out her runner’s workout here). And because of Mason, Kourtney’s embraced a way of eating that is so clean and organic, even she’s surprised. To top it all off, her once turbulent relationship with boyfriend (and Mason’s dad) Scott Disick is finally in a good, stable place.

Of course, all of that could change by the next season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which begins again this summer. But in the meantime, Kourtney says she feels amazing, especially when she’s rocking a bikini! “I’m really excited to be on the cover of SHAPE and offer some advice, particularly to new mothers. I’m proof that even after having a baby, you can look better and sexier than ever!” How? Read on for Kourtney’s essential healthy-living tips.

Kourtney Kardashian Diet Plan

Exercise to Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle, No Excuses!

“My family has always been into exercise,” says Kourtney. “My dad [the late Robert Kardashian—famous for defending O.J. Simpson] used to tape episodes of Seinfeld and Friends and watch them in the morning while he was on the treadmill.”
When her mom, Kris, married Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner, he encouraged everyone to take Tae Bo classes. “Kim and I went almost every day after school,” says Kourtney. “Sometimes we’d do two classes in a row because we had so much energy.” As she got older, she discovered her love for running, which she continued doing right up until her seventh month of pregnancy. “But carrying an extra 40 pounds started to bother my knees,” she says, “so I had to stop.”

After Mason was born, and as soon as she got the doctor’s okay, she slowly returned to her old routine, but it hasn’t been easy. “Women always ask me how to get back in shape after having a baby,” she says. “I always say, ‘Know when’s the right time for your workout and commit to doing it.’ For me, I have to get up at 7 a.m. every day, before everyone else, leave Mason in bed with Scott, and go for a run. Thirty minutes of cardio is right outside my door.” Her next step is hitting the gym for weight training. “Scott just started going back and he wants me to go with him,” says Kourtney. “My arms already look good from carrying a 25-pound baby around, but I plan to make them really toned.”

Kourtney Kardashians Diet

“The first place I gain weight is in my rear end,” laments Kourtney. “I love my butt, but I have a tendency to get saddlebags there, so I need to watch it.” She’s found the easiest way to lose and keep off the extra pounds is with a clean diet. When she got pregnant, rather than the crazy cravings many women have, Kourtney yearned for healthy superfoods, like steel-cut oatmeal with almond milk and manuka honey. “My friends told me I’d get fewer colds if I used that honey,” she says. “I swear it’s stopped my allergies.”
Kourtney’s health kick turned into a lifestyle change after Mason was born. “My mom gave me the Beaba baby food maker that steams and purees fruits and veggies,” she says. “I use only organic foods for him, and it made me think about what I put into my body too. I couldn’t sit around eating cookies and expect him to eat vegetables.” The transition was easier than she thought it would be, she admits. “I fell in love with salmon, which I hardly ever ate before. And I used to eat salads, but now I’m having side dishes like spinach and carrots too. It wasn’t just because it’s good for me—I’ve discovered I really liked eating that way.” For a snack, she relies on a QuickTrim Fast-Shake. “It’s only 110 calories, but it fills me up,” she says. “Plus, it’s full of vitamins, so I never have to think about it—it’s so easy and addicting.”

Keep Your Love Life Hot
No matter who you ask, everyone has an opinion on Kourtney and Scott’s relationship. Fans are so vocal, they’ll walk up to the couple on the street and advise Kourtney to leave her boyfriend—right in front of him! But since Scott’s stopped drinking and they’ve been going to therapy, things are better. “Communication is so important,” says Kourtney. “In therapy, any misunderstandings get cleared up. We love having that time together to get all our feelings out.”

Carving out together-time is a key way Kourtney keeps the home fires burning. “I was at a bachelorette party in Las Vegas and we all had to give the bride-to-be advice on love,” she says. “Mine was: Have lots of sex now because after you have a kid, it’s hard to squeeze it in. Make time for each other or the connection can go away.” To get Scott (and herself) in a romantic mood, she reaches for some hot lingerie. “I feel so sexy when I wear it, and Scott loves it. He may have seen it 10 times before—it doesn’t matter. It works. And he never forgets to compliment me. Every day he tells me, ‘You are one hot mama!’”
